Japanese Kimonos come in different styles and some include many different items to make up the full traditional kimono dress, these parts are called:
Yuki - Sleeve Length
Ushiromigoro - Rear main section
Uraeri - Inner Collar
Doura - Upper lining
Sodetsuke - Armhole seam
Fuki - Hem guard
Sode - Sleeve
Okumi - Front panel below the collar
Miyatsukuchi - Opening below armhole
Sodeguchi - Sleeve opening
Tamoto - Sleeve pouch
Maemigoro - Front main section
Furi - Sleeve below armhole
Tomoeri - Overcollar
Eri - Collar
Susomawashi - Lower lining
The word Kimono means "clothing", kimonos are often worn with traditional Obi, these are a decorative belt which are tied in a series of knots, the older style of Obi were very plain and simple, the modern obi's are very expensive but are stunning in design.
Kimonos are worn on many occasions, one of them is a wedding, these are known as Uchikake, these are worn over the top of the kimono, they have a thick padded roll near the hem, this is because they drag on the ground.
